We got up pretty early for the train from Hamburg only to realize we had the time written down wrong and were 2 hours early. Spent some time eating croissants and coffee and getting yelled at by a 1 legged guy because I didnt give him money. But the train was on time.
Sat with an interesting guy from Texas, in his 20s probably with some social issues. Strong lack of eye contact but was talkative. However made it awkward when the german customs was asking people for passports and info they searched all his stuff. I think they had a hard time hearing him when they asked if he spoke english. He didnt like big buildings, liked getting away from people and we had a shared bond of video games. About an hour and a half before we had to transfer to Padborg, show our passports to Danish poilce, and get on a short train to meet Martin in Rødekro.
Great to finally meet Martin and his girlfriend Nana who have been together longer than Sarah and me. We're staying here 3 nights and if youre reading this Martin, the bed is comfy and im staying up a little bit so my snoring doesnt prevent you from falling asleep.
Firat we had the cultural exchange of candy where Sarah and i tried a bit of the worlds saltiest licorice. Actually coated in salt and has an actual warning for people with heart issues. The saltiness came in waves but flavor was good. Would eat another small piece.
We got a little tour of the town and got to see the shop where Nana works, they sell more upscale chocolates, cheese, wine, and candy. Sampled a strawberry cream licorice ball, very tasty.
Stopped by a tea store which Sarah was pretty excited about.
Ate lunch at a cafe. Nana had avacado toast with tuna. I had the same with smoked salmon. Martin a shrimp sandwich, and Sarah had a salami, pesto, cheese sandwich.
Rest of day was hanging out. Learned how to play the one piece card game, went to a grocery store for snacks/lunch/breakfast items. Watched a movie and now goin to bed. Very excited to be here ❤️
