We left Amsterdam via train around 9. The metro took us to central station and from there train to Hilversum and then Enschede close to the German border. We were a bit tired on the train and didnt spend too much of it looking out the window vs sleeping. Got there about noonish and went to meet Niek for a tour of the town after dropping off our stuff at the hotel.
Enschede is very cute. Its a brick paved college town with the University of Twente nearby. Lots of shops and restaraunts around.
Got to see lots of stuff including some we wouldnt normally venture into if we were on our own. Shopping mall, public library, video game shop/mini museum, board game and comic shop, park, a church, liquor store, grocery store, dollar/bargain store, scandinavian store with tea/cooking/bath stuff. Got to fire off lots of questions about living there.
Also tried pickled herring with onion. Sarah got Kippling. Herring I had 3 pieces of and not my favorite but at least I know now. Kippling was good, very mild battered fried fish with some dipping sauces. I liked dill sarah liked garlic.
After all that we booked dinner at a sushi restaurant, all you can eat where you order small portions on a tablet and they bring them in rounds. Everything was absolutely fantastic.
At this point it was time for game night and headed out of the city a mile to play some magic cards with Niek, Florish and Bastion. Good games we had some misplays but I had a great time.
Thats all I have without going too far into details, but its late and we have an early train tomorrow.
Niek shamed in corner after losing at marvel vs capcom in the video game mini museum
Picked up Monster Max for a good price. This was a Europe only game thats tricky to find in the US
Are ya winnin' son? I was listening to Jacques Brel and his song "Amsterdam " came on. Check it out and tell me if it gives you Amsterdam vibes.
